What Shieldora can’t do

A plain-English list of the things Shieldora does not do, so you can decide with the full picture. If something here is a dealbreaker, better to know now than later.

iPhone and iPad only

Shieldora works on iPhone and iPad. There is no Android, Windows, Mac or Chromebook version, and none is planned for launch. If your child’s main device is not an iPhone or iPad, Shieldora cannot help with it.

Safari is the only browser we filter

Filtering covers Safari, including private browsing. Other browsers are blocked by default. If your child needs one and you choose to allow it, we cannot filter what happens inside it, and the app tells you so when you allow it.

Websites, not what is inside other apps

Filtering applies to the web in Safari. Content inside apps such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube is served inside those apps, where neither iOS filtering nor Shieldora can reach. We cannot see it, and we cannot block it.

No filter catches everything

No web filter is perfect. Some adult content will still get through, even in Safari. Shieldora lowers how much gets through. It does not promise that nothing does.

A quiet phone takes a while to notice

A phone that is switched off, flat or out of signal cannot check in. We do not raise an alarm straight away, because a quiet phone usually just means it is off for a bit. If it stays silent, we let you know after 24 hours. So there is a gap between a phone going quiet and you hearing about it.

We do not read messages or searches

We do not collect messages, typed text or search terms, and we cannot see them. We don’t keep a browsing history of the sites your child visits, and alerts never name a site or a search.

What Shieldora does do

It tells you when an adult site is blocked and when you allow another browser, and if protection stops or the phone goes quiet, you will hear about it. That is the gap most filters leave quietly open, and it is the part we focus on.
